Zach Nistler has been a mainstay in South Dakota politics for over 15 years. Motivated by a college organizing trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Zach started as a field organizer with Smoke-Free SD and eventually worked in nearly every campaign role, including fundraising, scheduling, and managing. Zach took a break from campaigning to serve as executive director of the South Dakota Democratic Party. After multiple congressional campaigns and ballot initiatives, a major mayoral campaign, and even being the state director for Obama for America, Zach founded Midwest Action in 2017.

Zach and his team bring decades of local South Dakota connections and rural political experience to clients who want to make an impact at every level.

Zach earned his Bachelor of Science degree in politics and psychology from South Dakota State University and will graduate with a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in 2025. He and his husband balance home renovations, a love of travel, and starting a family.
